
I made this
coat a couple of years ago. It was one of my first reviews for
PatternReview. The
pattern envelope lists light weight melton as a recommended fabric. And I agree that it should be fine. I wouldn't go with a heavy melton. Because the jacket is dolman sleeved, you need a soft draping fabric, and I think a medium or heavy weight melton would be too stiff; there would be too much bulk under the arms for the jacket to be flattering.
